Ben & Jerry’s Launches Vegan Version of Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream

Ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s just launched a vegan version of its Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream flavor, which The Late Show host inspires. The almond milk-based flavor features vanilla ice cream dotted with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and caramel swirls.

To make the ice cream flavor vegan, flavor scientists at Ben & Jerry’s had to reformulate its waffle cones, which contained dairy, to be free from animal products. The fresh non-dairy Americone Dream flavor starts to hit store shelves now, where it will retail between $4.39 and $5.99 per pint.

“The vegan non-dairy Americone Dream is below,” the funnyman claimed. “Enjoyable truth: the container is vegan, too. Yet I would not suggest eating it.

“Colbert will give away proceeds from the fresh non-dairy flavor to charities through The Stephen Colbert Americone Dream Fund. In 2016, Ben & Jerry’s produced its first four almond milk-based tastes: PB & Cookies, Coffee Caramel Fudge, Delicious Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and Chunky Ape. Since then, the brand has created numerous vegan offerings from dairy-free versions of timeless flavors such as Cherry Garcia, Delicious Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Cinnamon Buns.

In addition to almond milk, the firm developed a sunflower butter base for the launch of “Milk” & Cookies, Crème Brûlée Cookie, and Mint Delicious chocolate Cookie vegan tasted in January 2020. Ben & Jerry’s used its ingenious sunflower butter base to develop its recent Adjustment the Whirled taste, created in collaboration with vegan racial justice activist Colin Kaepernick, contributing a part of the vegan taste’s sales to Know Your Rights Camp, a company Kaepernick started to aid encourage Black and Brown neighborhoods.

This year, in addition to Americone Dream, Ben & Jerry’s has presented two veganized variations of its classic tastes: Phish Food (made with gelatin-free marshmallow swirls) and also Karamel Sutra (its initial vegan enhancement to its Core line, which features two ice cream tastes bordering a soft dairy-free caramel core).
